On Saturday February 25, 2017 at approximately 4:00 p.m., New Glasgow Regional Police responded to a bomb threat at Sobeys Aberdeen, East River Road New Glasgow. The threat was made via a message located in the Sobeys store, which indicated there were explosive devices in the store.

New Glasgow Regional Police met with officials from the Sobeys Aberdeen Staff and the decision was made to evacuate the store and stores in the immediate area.

The entire store was searched by members of the New Glasgow Regional Police, RCMP Explosive Disposal Unit and RCMP K-9 that can detect explosives from Halifax. The search was completed at 7:50pm and nothing suspicious was found. New Glasgow Fire Department and Emergency Health Services also responded and assisted.

The Sobeys Aberdeen New Glasgow store remained closed for the remainder of the evening.

New Glasgow Regional Police and New Glasgow Forensic Unit continue to investigate.
