For your relaxation and active lifestyle, New Glasgow offers you several Parks, Playgrounds and Recreation facilities.
New Glasgow has a fully accessible Playground dedicated to the memory of the late Dr. Carrie Best, a well- known human rights activist. Located in the South end of the Town, the playground offers a play experience for all ages and ability levels with an innovative, state of the art, rubberized play surface. This project was also realized through the work of dedicated community volunteers who had the vision of the Universal Playground.
The Samson Trail, a 4km trail created along the bed of Canada’s first iron railroad. Victorian style lampposts line the riverside and light the Town’s landmark George Street Bridge and the Samson Trail. Laurie Park Rotary Park Pioneer Coal Park Several parks throughout the Town provide a peaceful refuge for a stroll or picnic and New Glasgow is just minutes from three championship calibre golf courses, (Abercrombie Golf & Country, Glen Lovat and Linancy Greens). Munroe Avenue Playground This playground located on Munroe Ave., is specifically designed for children ages 3 to 10 years. It consists of 2 covered 4 ft. decks, with a crawl tunnel between each. The playground has 3 climbers for entrance onto the decks and there is also a double slide off one end and a small curved slide off the other as well as accessible steps for small children or persons with mobility limitations. The playground also features a musical play area panel and a creative play corner. It's safety surface is made of rubber chips. The rubber chips are about the size of pea gravel and are spread under the play equipment for safety purposes. Southend Playground |
