Carmichael-Stewart House Museum cs-house (click here for additional photos)
Situated on a tree-lined street in the heart of New Glasgow, this is one of Pictou County's most historic structures. This Victorian home was built in 1880 by Senator James W. Carmichael, who was a prominent citizen and heir to a prosperous shipbuilding company. Senator Carmichael gave the home to his son and daughter-in-law as a wedding gift. The house, which is adorned with original hardwood floors and beautiful stained glass windows, houses an extensive photo collection, Trenton Glassware, an amazing clothing collection and many unique Pictou County treasures.

Open June-September. Admission by donation.

Pictou County Sports Heritage Hall of Fame

Pictou County, with a population of approximately 46,000, has an impressive number of outstanding athletes. Over 2,000 artifacts are on display including an array of scrapbooks and medals. A video library complements the archive. The facility is currently working to improve the accessibility of information in their archives. Work is being done to create a digital archive of artifacts and searchable database for those looking for more information on individuals or teams. New interactive elements will be added to the exhibit including basketball and boxing activities. Watch for a new website and the anticipated launch of the new features in the summer of 2007.

Open year- round, call ahead in winter to confirm hours. Admission is free and bus tours are welcome. Parking, public washrooms and indoor eating facilities are available. The facility is wheelchair accessible.
