About Pictou County
The Town of New Glasgow is located in Central Nova’s Pictou County. A population of approximately 43,000, it is comprised of six municipal units including Stellarton, Trenton, Westville, Pictou, the County, and the First Nation Band Council in Pictou Landing. Pictou County has a vibrant tourism and hospitality industry, with many parks and attractions such as Greenhill Look Off, Africentric Heritage Park, Nova Scotia Museum of Industry, Northumberland Fisheries Museum, and so much more.

Right on the coast of the Northumberland Straight, it is also close to numerous warm water beaches, such as Caribou-Munroes Island Provincial Park, and Melmerby Beach Provincial Park. Pictou County has many local restaurants with food from a variety of different cultures – not to mention some of the freshest seafood you can get. Pictou County has excellent schools serving both sides of the county including the new primary-to-eight New Glasgow Academy and a new centre for educational excellence for Pictou Landing First Nation. Major areas of employment are in health care, manufacturing, professional services, tech services, property management, and primary industries that put our region on the map
