Chief's Message
As I continue in my role as Chief of Police for the New Glasgow Regional Police Department, I consider it a great privilege and responsibility to serve the needs of our citizens by continuously working closely with the community to ensure a safe and prosperous town.
The New Glasgow Regional Police Department is all-encompassing. We provide 24hr police service delivery to the municipalities of New Glasgow and Trenton, covering a combined geographical area and population of almost 16,000 square kilometres and almost 12,000 residents.
Our police service responds to an average of 7,500 calls for service per year. NGRP is comprised of 4 unformed 5 person platoons who deliver general police duties. Platoons are supported by specialized sections such as Major Crime Unit, Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit, Integrated Intelligence Unit, School Resource Officer, Dispatch/Communications, Court Operations, Criminal Records, Executive Administration, and Management Team. As a police service, we are fortunate to have the support of our community, our Council, and our New Glasgow Board of Police Commissioners.
NGRP is committed to prioritizing public safety and fostering relationships to support an equitable, diverse, inclusive community. I hope that you find the information on our site helpful and that it will give you a better understanding of how our service delivery is striving to make our communities a better place to live.
Sincerely,
Steve Chisholm
Chief / New Glasgow Regional Police
