Fire Safety & Education
Fire safety education is a critical link to the community and the New Glasgow Fire Department has a very active fire prevention program.
Members regularly visit schools and teach fire safety to students. In recent years, visits have been limited due to Covid but you will still see the department out conducting fire drills in schools and businesses around town.
The Lulan and 1917 LaFrance fire truck, historically used in regular calls, were restored by members and are now used in town events, parades and an annual Christmas Eve tour by Santa and Mrs. Claus. You will also find the department at the annual Downtown Christmas Light Up, the New Glasgow Christmas Parade, Communities in Bloom events and other hometown festivals.
The New Glasgow Fire Department’s favourite time of year is in October when they celebrate Fire Prevention Week. You will find the department hosting an open house, visiting schools and holding awareness presentations to the general public.
