2025 - 2026 Rates
Property Tax
- The residential and resource tax rate is currently $1.84/$100 of assessed value.
- The commercial and business occupancy tax rate is currently $4.45/$100 of assessed value
Water and Sewer
- The sewer rate is currently $1.40 per cubic meter of water consumed.
- The water rate is currently $1.46 per cubic meter of water consumed.
Solid Waste
A solid waste uniform charge of $183.00 per unit is applied for all single residential dwellings. Multi-unit dwellings of 4 or less are charged $183.00 per unit.
Residents have many convenient options for paying tax bills, utility bills and other town-related expenses.
In Person
You can pay in person at Town Hall with cash, cheque or debit. Sorry, we cannot accept credit cards at Town Hall.
You can also drop off payments beside the main door of Town Hall into the secure payment drop box.
From Home
You may make payments to the Town of New Glasgow via your regular online banking - simply add us as a payee. There are two payee options: New Glasgow Property Taxes and New Glasgow Town Water/Sewer. Double-check that you are adding the correct payee for the bill you want to pay.

Parking tickets can be paid online through Access Nova Scotia.
Parking ticket payments can also be paid at Town Hall, 111 Provost Street, from 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. at our front desk, through the drop box at the door, or by mail.
By credit card
To make tax and/or utility payments by credit card, you may use the Plastiq system.
Plastiq is a third-party automated payment service that charges a convenience fee to cover its handling and processing. For each transaction, two charges will appear on your credit card statement: 1) the principal amount of the payment and 2) the fee. The Town of New Glasgow does not receive any part of the service fee.
You will need to enter your payment information, including your tax or utility bill account number, credit card details and payment amount. After you confirm to pay the Plastiq convenience fee, your transaction will be completed, and you will be provided with a confirmation number. Town Hall will receive instant notification of your payment and it will be posted to your account within 1-3 business days.
You may also use Plastiq to pay for water and sewer bills online with a credit card.
Plastiq can also be used to pay property taxes online with a credit card.
