Routine patrol nets impaired driving charges for Pictou County male

New Glasgow Regional Police have charged a Pictou County man with impaired driving following a traffic stop.

At approximately 3:26 a.m. on October 11, 2025, officers on routine patrol observed a Chevrolet Silverado being driven erratically on East River Road in New Glasgow. Police initiated a traffic stop, and following an investigation, 22-year-old driver, Xander Rorison of Pictou County, was arrested and charged with impaired driving.

Rorison is scheduled to appear in Pictou Provincial Court on December 8, 2025, facing the following charges under the Criminal Code of Canada:

  • Impaired operation of a motor vehicle – Section 320.14(1)(a)
  • Impaired operation of a motor vehicle while having a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg% – Section 320.14(1)(b)

New Glasgow Regional Police remind the public to call 911 immediately if they suspect an impaired driver. When reporting, provide the vehicle’s location, license plate number, make, model, colour, direction of travel, and, if possible, a description of the driver.
