Multiple charges result as two drivers arrested for impaired driving

News Release
New Glasgow Regional Police have charged two impaired drivers with multiple charges after two separate motor vehicle traffic stops within hours of each other.
On Monday September 16th at 7:36 p.m., New Glasgow Regional Police charged a 55-year-old male driver from Pictou County with Impaired Driving during a traffic stop on Temperance Street New Glasgow after the driver was observed driving erratically. A search of his vehicle officers located open alcohol containers.
The 55-year old man is scheduled to appear in Pictou Provincial court on November 25th 2024 facing charges of:
- Impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
- Impaired operation of a motor vehicle over 80 mg%.
- Operation while prohibited.
- Driving motor vehicle without insurance.
Within hours, New Glasgow Regional Police arrested another driver on Monday, September 16th at 11:30 p.m., where police charged a 28-year-old male driver from Pictou County with Impaired Driving during a traffic stop on Marsh Street New Glasgow after the driver was observed driving erratically. A search of his vehicle officers located open alcohol containers.
The 28-year old man is scheduled to appear in Pictou Provincial court on November 25th 2024 facing charges of:
- Impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
- Impaired operation of a motor vehicle over 80 mg%.
The New Glasgow Regional Police ask the public to immediately call 911 if they see a possible impaired driver, to report their location along with a description of the vehicle, including the license plate number, colour, make and model, the direction of travel for the vehicle and a description of the driver.
