NGRP Charge a Man in Relation to a Hate Motivated Crime

New Glasgow Regional Police has charged a man in relation to a hate crime that occurred in New Glasgow.
On June 5th New Glasgow Regional Police received a report of a hate crime.
On June 6, 2025, New Glasgow Regional Police responded to a report of postings of online hate speech that occurred from a New Glasgow residence. Investigators from the New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Unit learned that the man allegedly posted several hateful messages targeting Jewish communities.
At approximately 3:35 p.m., officers located the 22-year-old New Glasgow man and safely arrested him.
Luke Alexander McDonnell, 22 has been charged with
Advocating and Promoting Genocide. CC 318(1)
Public Incitement of Hatred. CC 319(1)
Willful Promotion Hatred. CC319(2)
The male was remanded into custody and will be appearing in Nova Scotia Provincial Court in Pictou on Monday June 9th, 2025, at 9:30 am.
