Volunteer Recognition Awards Celebrate Community Leadership in New Glasgow

April 23, 2026, New Glasgow, Nova Scotia - The Town of New Glasgow recognized nine outstanding volunteers during the 2026 Volunteer Recognition Awards, held in celebration of National Volunteer Week.
The annual awards highlight individuals whose dedication, leadership, and generosity strengthen recreation centres, arts and culture, heritage initiatives, community services, and volunteer organizations across New Glasgow. Their contributions help build a more connected and vibrant community for residents of all ages.
“We are very proud to recognize this year’s recipients and the meaningful contributions they make to our community,” said Mayor Nancy Dicks. “They represent just a small reflection of the many volunteers across New Glasgow who give their time, energy, and compassion each year to help make our town a stronger and more connected place to live. Congratulations to this year’s recipients.”

West Side Community Centre Volunteer Recognition Award - Nicole Cooley
Youth Volunteer Leadership Award - Emma Proudfoot
Carlton Munroe Music and Event Memorial Award - Brad “Fraggle” MacLean
Cultural Heritage Award - Don Cosh
Scott W. Weeks Community Service Award - Darcy Walsh
Social Justice Award - Lia Kreffer LeClair
Provincial Volunteer of the Year (Town of New Glasgow Representative) - Art MacLean
