The New Glasgow Regional Police is seeking the public's assistance in locating 28-year-old female from Pictou County. Ashley Borden who was last seen on Monday morning on November 3, 2025 in the New Glasgow, N.S area.
There is no information to suggest that she has met with foul play, however, New Glasgow Regional Police is concerned for her well-being and want to ensure she is safe.

New Glasgow Regional Police is asking the public's assistance to identify two persons who were responsible for the use of a stolen debit card used to withdraw an undisclosed amount of money from several locations in New Glasgow, Trenton and Port Hawkesbury.
Preliminary investigation has released three photos of the suspect(s) involved.

Routine patrol nets impaired driving charges for Pictou County male

New Glasgow Regional Police have charged a Pictou County man with impaired driving following a traffic stop.
At approximately 3:26 a.m. on October 11, 2025, officers on routine patrol observed a Chevrolet Silverado being driven erratically on East River Road in New Glasgow. Police initiated a traffic stop, and following an investigation, 22-year-old driver, Xander Rorison of Pictou County, was arrested and charged with impaired driving.
Rorison is scheduled to appear in Pictou Provincial Court on December 8, 2025, facing the following charges under the Criminal Code of Canada:
- Impaired operation of a motor vehicle – Section 320.14(1)(a)
- Impaired operation of a motor vehicle while having a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg% – Section 320.14(1)(b)
New Glasgow Regional Police remind the public to call 911 immediately if they suspect an impaired driver. When reporting, provide the vehicle’s location, license plate number, make, model, colour, direction of travel, and, if possible, a description of the driver.

New Glasgow Regional Police respond to a vehicle/pedestrian collision sending an eight-year-old female to hospital.
On Wednesday October 15, 2025, at 3:15 p.m., New Glasgow Regional Police, New Glasgow Fire Department and Emergency Health Services attended the scene involving a vehicle/pedestrian collision on Almont Avenue, New Glasgow.
The driver of the Ford F150 truck was traveling north on Almont Avenue when a motor vehicle/pedestrian collision occurred. Preliminary investigation indicated that the driver of the Ford F150 truck view was obstructed by another vehicle stopped at the east side of Fraser Street.
Speed was determined not a factor in the vehicle/pedestrian collision.
The 8-year-old Pictou County female was transported to the Aberdeen Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
New Glasgow Regional Police continue to investigate
Almont Avenue was closed to traffic in the Fraser Street area for over an hour to complete the investigation.
High-Risk Sex Offender Notification: George Durling

In accordance with the Nova Scotia Release of High-Risk Offender Information Protocol, the New Glasgow Regional Police is advising the public that a High-Risk Sex Offender is residing in the Marsh Street area of New Glasgow.
George Durling, 57-year-old male is a federal offender and has been released after serving a two-year sentence for convictions of:
- Distribution of Child Pornography
- Print/Publish Child Pornography (x3)
- Failure to Comply with Probation Order (x2)
- Harassing Communication and Indecent Communication
George Durling was known to text and call random phone numbers with sexually explicit content.
These offences occurred in the Truro and Maitland Nova Scotia area. He has previously been sentenced to:
- Three years of probation related to a sexual assault in Manitoba (1992)
- Eighteen months of probation for an assault in Truro (2019)
- One year of probation for an indecent act in Truro (2022)
Geroge Durling is on conditions to restrict him from being around children under 16 years of age. He must not attend a public park or public swimming area where persons under the age of 16 years are present or can reasonably be expected to be present, or a daycare centre, schoolground, playground or community centre. He cannot seek, obtain or continue any employment, whether or not the employment is remunerated, or become or be a volunteer in a capacity, that involves being in a position of trust or authority towards persons under the age of 16 years and he cannot have any contact — including communicating by any means — with a person who is under the age of 16 years, unless the offender does so under the supervision of a person whom the court considers appropriate.
This High-Risk Offender Information is provided to alert members of the public of his presence in our community and is not intended to encourage any form of vigilante activity or other unreasonable conduct.
New Glasgow Regional Police will continue to monitor the situation and will be completing regular compliance checks.
