Type of Employment: Part-Time Employee/Position Police Constable.

New Glasgow Police is currently accepting applications for the position of Part-Time Police Constable.

Minimum requirements to be a police officer in New Glasgow

You must meet the definition of a police officer as defined by the Nova Scotia Police Act and the Nova Scotia Department of Justice guidelines.  Minimum requirements include the following:

  • An applicant who successfully completed approved police cadet training program from a recognized training institution within the last 24 months, or experienced police officer currently serving or has served within the past two years with a police service in Canada
  • A Canadian military police officer (regular service) with qualifications Level 5
  • 19 years of age by application deadline
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Grade 12 education
  • No criminal convictions for which a pardon has not been granted and no adult criminal charges pending
  • Must possess and maintain valid Class 5 Nova Scotia driver’s license or equivalent from another Canadian province
  • MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS - Candidates must be medically fit
  • Driver's Abstract - Indicating an acceptable driving record
  • CPR & First Aid - Current Standard Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (C.P.R.) Level C.
  • Reference Letters - Three letters of reference of which one must be a work reference.
