Traffic Advisory - Vale Road Realignment

The Town of New Glasgow wishes to advise motorists that the following road closures will be in place during the Vale Road realignment at the intersection of Vale Road, Marsh St. and Merigomish Rd.

• Vale Road (Tremont St. – Merigomish Rd.) will be closed to traffic in both directions. Traffic will be rerouted through detours on Albert St. and Tremont St.

• Marsh St. (Vale Rd. – Albert St.) will be open to inbound traffic only all other traffic will be detoured through Albert St.

• Old Marsh Rd. and Vale Rd intersection will be closed to all traffic and traffic will be detoured through Tremont St.

• Grant St. traffic will have restricted access to Marsh St. / Merigomish Rd. with right turn only exiting the intersection of Grant St. / Marsh St. Grant St. Outbound traffic on Merigomish Rd. will need to use the access at Douglas St. / Merigomish Rd.

Road closures will be in place starting Monday, November 25 to Friday, November 29, 2024, including nights.

Construction is weather dependent and updates to the construction completion will be posted on the Town’s website.

These closures are needed to complete the road realignment of Vale Road at the intersection of Vale Rd., and Merigomish Road.

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible, detours will be in place.

Traffic Advisory - East River Road

The Town of New Glasgow wishes to advise motorists that East River Road at Park Street intersection will have lane closures with traffic control in place starting on Thursday, November 21 until Friday, November 22, 2024, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

Construction is weather dependent and updates to the construction completion will be posted on the Town’s website.

This closure is needed to complete road maintenance work on East River Road.

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible; detours will be in place.

Sidewalk Advisory - Provost Street

The Town of New Glasgow wishes to advise businesses, pedestrians, residents and motorists that excavation work will take place on the sidewalk near 142 Provost St. Work is required to expose a waterline.

The work will commence at 6 a.m. and last until noon on Thursday, November 21, 2024. Traffic control will be in place, however it is not expected that the street will be closed to traffic. The sidewalk at the worksite will be closed and work vehicles and equipment will occupy the parking spaces.

Please drive safely through this work area and be aware of pedestrians, workers, and work vehicles.
