Notice is hereby given that a meeting of the New Glasgow Town Council held on Monday, August 19th, 2024, Council granted approval of a rezoning application by the Town of New Glasgow for lands located at Eighth Street (PID: 00957241) and Parkview Drive/Chestnut Street, (PID: 65238420) New Glasgow. The application is an amendment to the Land Use zoning map to rezone subject lands from Single-Unit Residential (R1) Zone to Two-Unit Residential (R2) Zone. The rezonings are housekeeping amendments to bring into alignment subject sites abutting Two-Unit Residential (R2) zoned areas.
To appeal in accordance with Section 247 of the Municipal Government Act, an aggrieved person, the applicant, an adjacent municipality, a village in which the affected property is situated, or the Director may within fourteen (14) days of the date of this advertisement (appeal period closing on September 24, 2024), appeal to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board regarding this decision.

Traffic Advisory - Brother Street Extension

The Town of New Glasgow wishes to advise that Brother St. Ext. (Izzard Rd. – Dead End) will have a lane restriction starting on Monday, September 16, 2024, for approximately six (6) weeks to install a new curb, stormwater system and asphalt road surface. A contractor will be onsite on weekdays from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
This closure is necessary to install a new curb, stormwater system, and asphalt road surface as part of street upgrades.
Homeowners on the west side of the street may have restricted access to driveways during the installation of the new curb the contractor will advise in advance to assist with alternate arrangements as required.
The Town of New Glasgow Public Works Department regrets any inconvenience this may cause and wishes to thank you for your cooperation. If you have any further questions, please contact the Engineering Office at (902) 755-8351.

Hydrant Flushing Schedule - Fall 2024

The Town of New Glasgow wishes to advise that the annual flushing of hydrants is about to commence. Below is the schedule for hydrant flushing:

8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily

East Side New Glasgow
Tuesday, September 3 through Friday, September 13

West Side New Glasgow
Wednesday, September 11 through Friday, September 27

Lower water pressure and/or dirty water may occur for a short period of time. To avoid inconvenience, customers are advised to set aside sufficient supply of water for their requirements on the noted dates.
The Town apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and wishes to thank you for your cooperation.

Labour Day - Town Hall Closed

Please be advised that the Town Hall will be closed on Monday, September 2, 2024, for Labour Day, and will reopen on at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3.

Traffic Advisory - Ellis St. and Balfour St.

The Town of New Glasgow wishes to advise residents and motorists that a water valve replacement and associated road work will take place at the intersection of Ellis St. and Balfour St. on Wednesday, August 28th, 2024, weather permitting, with possible delay until Thursday, August 29, 2024, if required.
The work will be carried out between 8.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will include a street closure on Ellis St. (Riverview St.-Balfour St.). Motorists are advised to use alternate routes whenever possible.
This work will impact water customers on Ellis St., Balfour St. and Athletic St. causing a period of no water from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Customers may experience low water pressure and dirty water for a short period following the work and should flush their system thoroughly to remove any residual dirt.
Traffic control will be in place including detours. Please drive safely through this worksite and be aware of pedestrians, workers, and work vehicles.
