The Town of New Glasgow wishes to advise motorists that Road Paving scheduled for Thursday, August 14, 2025 from 8:00pm – 8:00am on Friday, August 15, 2025, has been DELAYED.
The Town of New Glasgow wishes to advise motorists that Road Paving will start on Friday, August 15, 2025 from 8:00am – 5:00pm.
Traffic Control will be in place and lane restrictions. These closures are needed to complete road paving.
Construction is weather dependent and updates to the construction completion will be posted on the Town’s website.
Motorists are advised to use alternate routes whenever possible, detours will be in place.

The Town of New Glasgow wishes to advise motorists that the following street Provost St. (George St. – Jury St.) will have road closed and traffic control in place starting Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 8:00pm to 8:00am Thursday, August 14, 2025, and again on Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 8:00pm to 8:00am Friday, August 15, 2025. There will be no street parking permitted during these hours to allow street paving to occur.
Construction is weather dependent and updates to the construction completion will be posted on the Town’s website.
These closures are necessary to permit road paving work.
Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and parking whenever possible, detours will be in place. Free parking during these hours is available at Glasgow Square and the Farmers Market parking lots.

New Glasgow Drone Show

New Glasgow, NS - The Town of New Glasgow and the New Glasgow 150 Anniversary Celebrations Committee are thrilled to announce the premiere of their first-ever Drone Show, a highlight event of the 150th anniversary festivities. The event will take place on Saturday, August 31, 2025, with a rain date set for Sunday, September 1, 2025.
Produced by North Star Drone Show, renowned nationally for its spectacular and highquality presentations, this groundbreaking show promises to be a memorable experience for residents and visitors alike.
The evening’s festivities will kick off at 7:00 p.m. with live music performed by Reckless at Glasgow Square. The highly anticipated drone show will follow at 9:00 p.m., lighting up the sky over the Amasipukwejk (pronounced Ah-mah-see-boog-whesk). The Glasgow Square parking lot and Rotary Park will serve as the official viewing area for attendees.
As the first drone show in Pictou County, a large turnout is expected. Event organizers advise that significant pedestrian and vehicle traffic may occur in the downtown and riverfront areas before, during, and after the show. The timing of the event over a
Importantly, the show does not include any form of pyrotechnics and fully complies with all provincial regulations currently in place to mitigate wildfire risks. While Rotary Park is open during provincial restrictions, the Samson Trail surrounding Rotary Park will stay closed until further notice.
“We are excited to welcome the community and visitors to this free, landmark event as part of our 150th anniversary celebrations,” said Mayor Nancy Dicks. “The drone show offers a safe and inclusive way for everyone to come together and celebrate this important milestone as we wrap on what has truly been an event packed summer.”
